Where did you start your career?
In the UK Tetley business, working in Customer Marketing which was part of the Commercial Team.
Tell us a bit about your role at Tata Global Beverages?
As Financial Controller/Company Secretary for the Australia business and a Senior Manager within a small dynamic team, I have a great role. I need to ensure that transaction processing, controls & compliance and reporting requirements are all met whilst playing a key role in business and commercial decisions. There has been plenty to keep me busy in the 18 months I have been in Australia, and I’ve learned a huge amount.
What’s your favourite Tata beverage and why?
I’ve not found a black tea product we do that I won’t happily drink. I’m a man of simple needs, and a cup of tea has everything for me –flavour, warmth, hydration, caffeine. It may be the British in me speaking but I definitely think it’s under-valued. If the only three beverages that existed were tea, water and alcohol I’d get by just fine. I think I might actually prefer the lack of choice.
What’s important to you outside work?
Without meaning to sound selfish, being able to do what I want to do, be it spending time with family and friends, sport, reading, travelling or learning about whatever is interesting me at that moment. Though in all honesty for the past few months it has all focussed on my new little boy, Dylan.
What advice would you give to future applicants?
Tata provides great opportunities if you are willing to take them. They are very supportive of personal development, and as it’s still developing its global structure, processes and personality there are plenty of opportunities for positive people to learn and develop together with Tata Global Beverages.
