With brand presence in over 40 countries, we are on a journey to becoming a global leader in branded natural beverages through organic growth, innovation and strategic alliances. Over 90 per cent of our sales today are from branded products and over 65 per cent of our Group turnover is generated outside India. We have partnered with some of the biggest players in the beverages category to deliver products and innovations that delight our consumers. Our strong alliances and partnerships complement our vision of making a lasting difference in tea, coffee and water. Some of our significant alliances are mentioned below:

Joint ventures

A JV between Tata Global Beverages and PepsiCo, NourishCo focuses on delivering health and enhanced wellness through innovative ready to drink beverages. This JV is in line with Tata Global Beverages’ ambition to grow through strategic alliances, category expansion and innovation. The NourishCo portfolio now has Tata Water Plus, Tata Gluco+ and Himalayan natural mineral water. Drawing on the strengths of both companies, NourishCo has a pipeline of innovations to fuel growth and create newer hydration solutions.

Tata Starbucks Pvt. Ltd leverages the combined strengths of two leading beverage companies, Starbucks Coffee Company and Tata Global Beverages, to improve the quality and profile of Indian coffee. The unique Starbucks Experience is brought to Indian consumers along with the trust and reliability of the Tata name. The stores, branded as Starbucks Coffee ‘A Tata Alliance’, are present in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad with many more Starbucks stores planned throughout the country. In a separate sourcing and roasting agreement, Tata Coffee sources and roasts coffee to supply to Tata Starbucks Pvt. Ltd and to export to Starbucks Coffee Company.


Tata Coffee is Asia’s largest coffee plantation company and the 3rd largest exporter of instant coffee in the country. The Company produces more than 10,000 MT of shade grown, handpicked & sundried Arabica and Robusta coffees at its 19 estates in South India. Its two Instant Coffee manufacturing facilities have a combined installed capacity of 8400 metric tonnes. It also produces about 1300 MT of pepper and 7500 MT of tea annually. It exports green coffee to countries in Europe, Asia, Middle East and North America. Tata Coffee’s coffee and pepper estates are Utz, Rainforest Alliance and SA8000 reinforcing its commitment to the people and environment. 11 estates are Starbucks CAFÉ Practices certified. Instant Coffee plants and Tea estates are Sustainable Agricultural Network and Rainforest Alliance certified.

Tata Tea Extractions, Inc. (TTEI), in the US is a wholly owned subsidiary supplying cold water soluble Instant Tea powders and Instant Green Tea. TTEI facility also enables the producing of value added products as per specific customer needs for the Iced Tea Beverage Industry in North America. The unit is certified under GFSI global food safety standards and all its products are Kosher and Halal Certified.

Zheijang Tea Group Company is China's leading tea and tea products manufacturer, and the country’s largest green tea exporter. Zhejiang Tata Tea Extraction Co. Ltd (ZTTECL) factory is a state of the art manufacturing facility producing world class Green Instant Teas, Tea Polyphenols, Tea Concentrates and other value added tea products. The Instant Teas are a B2B product used in various tea based beverages across the world. Tea Polyphenols on the other hand is a high end premium segment produce which goes into manufacture of various health supplements, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical products.

Associate companies

Amalgamated Plantations Company Private Limited (APPL) is a tea plantation company located in Assam, India, in which TGB has a stake. It is also India’s second largest tea producer with operations spread across 24 tea estates in Assam and North Bengal, employing approximately 30,000 people. The company currently has one fully organic garden — the Hathikuli tea estate located within the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. This garden is now the largest Certified Organic integrated Farm in Asia manufacturing three varieties of tea and black pepper and was honoured with the ‘Wind under the Wings’ award by Sanctuary Asia Magazine in 2012.

The Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company (KDHP) is the largest tea plantation company in South India. This Munnar-based plantation has achieved Rainforest Alliance Certification for all of its 7 estates and 16 factories, making it one of the largest tea plantation companies in the world to receive the prized recognition in a single shot. The company was also ranked No 1 in the category for Best Company for employee involvement and participation in 2015. KDHP is the first ever employee owned plantation company in India and nearly all its employees are shareholders.

A member of the Sunshine Enterprise, Watawala Plantations PLC (WATA) is a diversified plantation company in Sri Lanka, managed by the Group’s subsidiary, Estate Management Services Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture with the Tata Global Beverages Ltd. and Pyramid Wilmar Plantations Pvt Ltd. Watawala Plantations is one of the largest plantation companies in Sri Lanka, one of the largest producers of tea and palm oil and amongst the most efficiently run in the country. Its marketing company, Watawala Tea Ceylon Limited owns three key brands – Zesta, Watawala and Ran Kahata which together command over 30% market share of the branded tea market in Sri Lanka. Its tea carries the coveted Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM mark. Another illustration of sustainability in business is its Lonach Dairy Farm which is Sri Lanka’s largest biogas plant and produces 100 M3 of biogas per day.
