The nations No.1 tea brand*, is delighted to announce their headline sponsorship of Nutrition and Hydration Week 2017, which aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally, focussing on nutrition and hydration across the health and social care sectors. This will include supporting the Nutrition & Hydration Week team in providing strategic advice and support to care homes across the UK.

Caroline Lecko, Clinical Improvement Project Manager for NHS Improvement and Nutrition and Hydration Week campaigner says; “The Nutrition and Hydration Week team are delighted to be working with Tetley as one of our key sponsors. We believe that improving hydration is fundamental to promoting health and well being and, for so many, the familiarity of a nice cup of tea is the best way to support adequate hydration. We very much look forward to working with Tetley in highlighting that tea can play a crucial role in improving hydration.”

As well as an official sponsor of Nutrition and Hydration Week 2017, Tetley is proud to be partnering with Martin McKee, Head Chef at The Hawthorns Care Home, Aldridge, who will be working with Tetley as brand ambassador, to provide tailored hydration advice to care home caterers and all those involved in the care channel. Tetley’s first collaboration with Martin takes form as a ten step ‘Hydration Help Sheet’ available to download here, offering hints and tips on how tea can support resident hydration within the care environment.

Martin, who was a finalist in the 2016 NACC ‘Care Cook of the Year’ awards, comments; “I’m thrilled to be working with Tetley on this project. Elderly residents are at increased risk of dehydration, as thirst sensation and detection lessen with age. Regularly offering residents different tea blends not only contributes to overall fluid intake, but becomes part of a wider social occasion in care homes for residents, visitors and carers alike.”

Tetley also hosted an Afternoon Tea event at The Hawthorns Care Home for residents, as part of the Worldwide Afternoon Tea initiative. Martin created a delicious afternoon tea spread, suitable for the different needs of the residents and all to be enjoyed with Tetley’s scrumptious blends; with the leader of the Tetley Tea Folk, Gaffer also making a special appearance!

The brand will also be supporting the National Association of Care Home Caterers (NACC), across 2017 as a premier partner, attending the Training & Development Forum at the East Midlands Conference Centre this October.
